Braga vs Feyenoord Prediction, Preview, News, Odds: 24/9/2025

Braga return to the Europa League group stage after a determined qualifying campaign, during which they remained unbeaten across three rounds. The Portuguese side eliminated Levski Sofia (1-0 on aggregate), Cluj (4-1 on aggregate), and Lincoln Red Imps (4-0 and 5-1) to secure their place in the competition. Yet, translating this European success into domestic consistency has proven more difficult. The Minho Warriors, who traditionally trail just behind Portugal’s “big three” of Benfica, Sporting, and Porto, entered the weekend sitting seventh in the Primeira Liga after a stretch of three league matches without a win. Last season, Braga also failed to progress from the Europa League group stage, adding extra pressure to perform this time around.

Their opponents, Feyenoord, narrowly missed out on the Champions League after a dramatic 6-4 aggregate defeat to Fenerbahçe in the third qualifying round. Dropping into the Europa League, the Dutch champions have since hit top gear on the home front. Robin van Persie’s men picked up victories over Excelsior (2-1), Sparta Rotterdam (4-0), Heerenveen (1-0), and Fortuna Sittard (2-0). A win in their upcoming domestic fixture against AZ Alkmaar would further consolidate their status as Eredivisie leaders, reflecting the sharp momentum they carry into Europe.

Team News and Key Players

Braga are expected to enter the contest without Swedish defender Gustaf Lagerbielke and youngster Jonatas Noro, both sidelined in defense. Midfielder Mário Dorgeles, who has already played heavily since joining the club in the summer, may also miss out. Additionally, striker Simon Banza has been left out of the squad following a rift with club leadership. As a result, much of Braga’s attacking weight will fall on captain Ricardo Horta, who has already scored twice this season, as well as new recruits Rony Lopes and Pau Victor, the latter having netted three goals so far.

Feyenoord also face defensive setbacks, with regulars Gernot Trauner and Thomas Beelen unavailable. Midfielder Jakub Moder is unlikely to feature, though there is cautious optimism about the possible returns of Jordan Lotomba, formerly of Nice, and South Korea’s Hwang In-beom, who is nearing full fitness. Up front, Japanese forward Ayase Ueda has been prolific, already scoring five goals in the Eredivisie. He will be supported by rising stars such as Yankuba Minteh, Alireza Jahanbakhsh, and Quinten Timber, who have all contributed to Feyenoord’s balanced attack.

Tactical Outlook

Braga are likely to rely on their direct and aggressive play at Estádio Municipal de Braga, where they have historically been difficult to beat in Europe. Their midfield creativity, led by Horta, will be central to unsettling Feyenoord’s makeshift defense. Feyenoord, however, remain well-drilled under Van Persie, often shifting between fluid attacking patterns and a compact defensive block. With Ueda in form and Timber pulling the strings in midfield, the Dutch side will seek to exploit Braga’s defensive vulnerabilities, especially on quick transitions.

Prediction

Braga’s strong home record and attacking depth should give them a slight edge, though Feyenoord’s form and clinical attack cannot be overlooked. Both sides are expected to score, but Braga’s resilience at home and Feyenoord’s defensive absences may tip the balance.

Prediction: Braga 2 – 1 Feyenoord
